His wife of 57 years, Jeanette, died on January 14, 2004 in Decatur, Illinois. Bill and Jeanette have two daughters, Sandy Via and Debbie Wiese, five grandsons, and at the time of his death, two great-granddaughters. A new great-granddaughter was born January 14, 2004.
